4 Key Looks For Fall
Getting inspired & putting together a wishlist.
Have you made any fall purchases yet? I haven’t—I’ve been savoring the process, enjoying browsing my favorite retailers’ new arrivals, bookmarking pieces that catch my eye, and really thinking about what feels like a “gut yes.” I want every piece I buy to serve more than one purpose, for more than one season too.
After going through my picks, I put together a few fall outfit ideas that align with my weekly rhythm. I mixed in some vintage accessories I’ve been eyeing too, because a little history and charm make any outfit feel extra special!
1. Work From Home Look
I’m obsessed with this sweater. The only thing stopping me from buying it is choosing the color- the pink/brown stripe is amazing too. I’d pair it with cords to spice up the season, and after loving barrel leg chinos from Gap, I’m curious about the fit of the chocolate brown pair. Rust also feels very on point for fall and I like that it’s a bit more of an unexpected color.
Barn jackets are everywhere, but an oversized denim or army green one feels the most practical. You want something that layers easily over sweaters and works well with neutrals.
My love for Margaux ballet flats runs deep- I’m already 5 pairs in and counting! But I don’t have chocolate brown (and navy) yet.
I think a hint of leopard adds playful charm this time of year- the belt is reminiscent of a vintage Fendi one I once had in my shop. If I were feeling bold, I might even pair it with the Prada brocade bag- anyone know the year? I’d never seen it before.
My philosophy for wfh looks is simple: curate pieces that feel seasonal, comfy and playful.
2. In-Person Meeting Look

These blue wide-leg pants inspired the outfit. I’d pair them with a fitted top or a navy/grey sweater. For a transitional jacket that’s polished, this denim trench feels perfect- the drape makes it effortless yet refined.
These wine colored Mary Janes instantly caught my eye- suede always adds texture for fall, and I have no doubt they’d get a lot of wear.
These Chanel coin earrings are the smallest clip-on size they made, coming in at 3/4", which are the hardest to find. I always keep my eye on gemstone stacking rings for everyday- even better when you find one in your birthstone. The orange Prada bag really pops this look to life and reminds me of the colors of my alma mater, Syracuse University!
An out of the house, daytime look is where discernment meets joy for me: picking pieces that are more polished yet also still express personality.
3. Going Out Look
I’m realizing that “going out” pieces deserve their own focus. I’m starting with a 90’s-inspired pair of straight dark grey jeans and pointed flat booties- great for walking, which I do often when meeting friends for dinner or drinks.
I love blouses with an open neck, and a ribbed top tucked in always feels polished- this fun one is a real splurge. I like to keep my eyes out for similar striped tops on The Real Real by Ulla Johnson, Missoni, and Zimmerman.
I’m on the waitlist for the bomber- the slouch is everything! It feels so chic and cool. I really love how black and chocolate brown can work together like this- I think mixed textures and shades help.
This early 2000s Lax Chanel bowler bag has silver hardware that gives it a little edge. You know chunky hoops always polish an outfit off and the ribbed detail on this pair feels extra interesting.
My approach here is layering practicality and comfort with a little playful edge.
4. Casual Weekend Throw-On Look

Okay, technically I bought these joggers along with the matching sweatshirt, but I sent the sweatshirt back. I’m going to style the joggers with an oversized stripe top (also love this one). I’m on the lookout for an oversized rugby top too- so many I’m seeing are really fitted.
This sherpa jacket isn’t groundbreaking but it’s so practical for walks (and so is this one). The denim Louis Vuitton belt bag from the early 2000s really elevates the look and these cutout Tiffany & Co. heart earrings have a sporty nod too. New Balance 574s are always my go-tos for daily walks and this pink color is so sweet. Comfortable silhouettes (styled thoughtfully) always make me feel like me.
I hope these looks spark some fall ideas for you too!
